It's been 5 years since this trip, so I am going to think back about where I went, and what types of cool adventures I experienced during this time. My primary motives for taking this trip was the following: I had never been out of North America and wanted to see more of the world. I had contacts across Europe, and thought it would be fun to visit them. Also, I was about to go to University (I had graduated High School) and figured that life as a student is always poor. So why not have gone on a trip before school and used up some money that I had since I would be poor when it came time for university anyway. The trip was a month long in total and I only spent a few days in most places.

smashed car). Once we got there, my cousins were very glad to see that we were alright and we had some food at another relative's restaurant in the city. We were supposed to go to the village (Dіadkovychi) but were late because of the accident. We told them we were going to eat, but because Ukrainians are crazy, they made a massive platter of food for us anyway. Talk about hospitality! As we came into the village, they were all waiting on the road for us and waving (I felt like a celebrity as I arrived there). Everyone was really nice and curious to see me since they had only seen old pictures of me and heard of me in letters. We ate a bunch of food and it seemed like any time I turned my head, my glass of wine was re-filled (I decided to stick to wine instead of vodka because I had heard of that phenomena and didn't want to get too tipsy). Everyone seemed to have a great time. I guess my arrival was a big excuse for them to all have a big party. Now here is where it gets weird. I had to go to the washroom, and I was expecting an outhouse since we were in the village. I asked my cousin, but I guess there was a cultural misunderstanding. In Canada, people try to be polite if they need to pee and say they need to use the "washroom", not "toilet" like many Europeans. I think that he thought I wanted to wash my hands or something, because he took me to the well. I was quite bewildered as I did not want to pee in their well, and proceeded to explain myself more. We both laughed and then he showed me where the real outhouse was. Later we went back to the city (which was only maybe 10-20km away) and I think myself, Dima, and Vadim went to a Discotheque. (Basically just a dance bar). I had a few bottles of "Premium" beer -- and it was cold this time :) and I really felt the alcohol. Then I looked at the label and realized that they were 700ml bottles (pint and a half). So you have to remember, the beer isn't really stronger than in Canada. It's still about ...
