It's been 5 years since this trip, so I am going to think back about where I went, and what types of cool adventures I experienced during this time. My primary motives for taking this trip was the following: I had never been out of North America and wanted to see more of the world. I had contacts across Europe, and thought it would be fun to visit them. Also, I was about to go to University (I had graduated High School) and figured that life as a student is always poor. So why not have gone on a trip before school and used up some money that I had since I would be poor when it came time for university anyway. The trip was a month long in total and I only spent a few days in most places.

later on (with Oleh) and had a great time remembering Saskatoon. I remember that a lot of the time, I was just going around seeing the city, hanging out at home playing cards and eating (the food was awesome). I also got to meet some other friends of Oleh and Vitalina. It seemed very quickly the week had passed and we were on our way to Rivne to meet with my cousins again. Another strange thing for me was registering with the Police. Apparently if you are in a city or town for more than 2 or 3 days you have to register with the police. I have heard that this is normally a day long process from standing in line and all, but I got the hook up and it took maybe a half hour. Oleh's dad is a policeman, so not only did it help out at the police station, but he was also nice enough to drive me to meet with my family in Rivne and we could drive a bit faster than the regular people since if we got pulled over, they would talk and everything would be alright (much like most places where police are nice to other police). Eventually, it started raining and I don't think we were going very fast, but we came up this hill (and could not see what was ahead of it) and when we came to the top, suddenly there must have been 50 cows all over the road and surrounding area. Within about 2 seconds we were already plowing through the cows (breaking off the side mirrors, one came up on the hood and broke the windshield, etc.) and it was very crazy. When we stopped, the people with the cows were upset that we hit their cows, and we were upset that the cows were all on the road and messed up our car. Luckily, we were all alright (even though Ukraine does not believe in seatbelts) and nobody was hurt. Oleh's dad put the bumper which fell off in the trunk and miraculously the car started, so we drove it in its dilapidated state the next 30km to Rivne (luckily in our 8h journey we were almost there, so it was just another hour to get there -- it would take a bit longer with a smashed ...
