It's been 5 years since this trip, so I am going to think back about where I went, and what types of cool adventures I experienced during this time. My primary motives for taking this trip was the following: I had never been out of North America and wanted to see more of the world. I had contacts across Europe, and thought it would be fun to visit them. Also, I was about to go to University (I had graduated High School) and figured that life as a student is always poor. So why not have gone on a trip before school and used up some money that I had since I would be poor when it came time for university anyway. The trip was a month long in total and I only spent a few days in most places.

who's place we were staying at. We went to some music stores where I bought some CD's (music is real cheap in Ukraine, and it's hard to find Ukrainian music in Canada, so I really liked it). Then we climed this mountain to get a good view of the city. Afterwards we stopped at an umbrella on the street and had a nice warm beer - just the way Ukrainians like it. We went back and visited with the rest of my family some more, looked at old pictures and talked about things that I didn't even know about (since their source of information from Canada is letters). We stayed the night and in the morning we were on our way to Chernivtsi. One thing that was interesting about Lviv was that at that time (maybe it is still the same, I am not sure), the water only worked in the morning and at night... So you had to fill up the bath tub in the morning to have water for the day. Probably something for the urban planners or civil engineers to fix. It was another good drive to Chernivtsi, but we got there and met up with a friend of mine that I met in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (Canada) when I was participating in a Ukrainian Immersion Program at the Mohyla Institute. His name was Oleh and he had a really nice place (with its own water source, so we always had water). He had a HUGE dog (it looked like a lion) and his family was also great and very hospitable. We checked out the university the first day we were there. My cousins who had driven me stayed for a few days, and then later went off to Rivne, and I stayed with Oleh for a week. I went to the bazaar (market) with his sister and the craziest thing happened. I was just walking around and suddenly I hear my name cried out. I turn around and it's another girl I met in Saskatoon called Vitalina. I totally forgot she lived in Chernivtsi and she saw me, but was not sure, so she followed me around until she heard my name (double checking). I bought a few souvenirs at the bazaar, and arranged a time to meet with Vitalina ...
