It's been 5 years since this trip, so I am going to think back about where I went, and what types of cool adventures I experienced during this time. My primary motives for taking this trip was the following: I had never been out of North America and wanted to see more of the world. I had contacts across Europe, and thought it would be fun to visit them. Also, I was about to go to University (I had graduated High School) and figured that life as a student is always poor. So why not have gone on a trip before school and used up some money that I had since I would be poor when it came time for university anyway. The trip was a month long in total and I only spent a few days in most places.

friends. Usually we'd go to a pub and hang out and they drank this interesting cola called "Kofola". It's hard to explain the flavour, but it was good. Prices were also interesting for me. A bottle or glass of pop would be $0.50 CAN. But a pint of beer was $0.10 CAN. As a result, I tried a few local brews (Czech's have been making beer for centuries, and all the little towns have microbreweries). Most of the time with this group, we were drinking a lot of Kofola and Fanta. I guess because I liked trying the odd Czech brew, my cousin thought I really loved beer, so he gave me this really cool 1L beer stein (2 pints for the Americans). It was pretty slick. During my time in Czech Republic, we travelled around checking out some castles, did a day in Prague (that city is amazing!), we went to this really cool restaurant in the middle of nowhere -- not too far from Prague. It had a mariner theme (it was all done up to be an old ship). We had this awesome garlic soup. I could have had a gallon of the stuff! If I ever get back there, I need to have some more. I went with Dima to Brno, the city where he goes to University. I found that all of Czech Republic has such a cool atmosphere and amazing architecture. It's really hard to describe my memories of the place. I remember touring some caves (or caverns) but I am not sure whether or not I did it before or after the trip to Ukraine, but I will mention that we did it. I don't remember where in the country it was, but we went out to this forested and slightly mountenous area and that's where these caves were. Oh yeah! I remember that it was in Germany / Czech Repubic that I fell in love with Milka Chocolate bars. I believe Paul in Germany showed me them when I asked for German chocolate (Germany being the "Land of Chocolate") and I had some for the train ride to Prague. When I was staying with Dima, we went to the grocery store and there was Milka there too, and it was really cheap ...
