It's been 5 years since this trip, so I am going to think back about where I went, and what types of cool adventures I experienced during this time. My primary motives for taking this trip was the following: I had never been out of North America and wanted to see more of the world. I had contacts across Europe, and thought it would be fun to visit them. Also, I was about to go to University (I had graduated High School) and figured that life as a student is always poor. So why not have gone on a trip before school and used up some money that I had since I would be poor when it came time for university anyway. The trip was a month long in total and I only spent a few days in most places.

I wanted to find what in the book said "l'égouts". This guy had a bewildered look on his face and pointed to the ground! That was when I realized what I had said and proceeded to explain and show him in my guidebook and then he pointed me in the right direction. I spent the next few days wandering around, taking pictures of all the cool sights (and man, is the Notre Dame huge!). I went to the Louvre for a few hours. Yes, a few hours! I'm not a huge art buff, and back then I really had no clue (like I really have a clue now!) so I just went in, found the Venus de Milo and Mona Lisa (the main works I had heard of before) and took some pictures and was on my way. That's not to say that the place wasn't also huge and quite beautiful. I was just trying to get as much stuff done in as little time as possible. Those are just some of the highlights that I remember from Paris. I do remember that the Metro was really awesome. It went all around the whole city and you were never 100m away from a stop, so you were never REALLY lost. Also, I had heard that people in France aren't very friendly, however I found everyone that I asked for help to be very nice and helpful to me (although communication with my horrible French was tough) but as I saw it, I would just go where they pointed and if I was still lost, I would ask someone else. It also turned out that I seemed to appear as a local. Maybe it was because I was too cheap to go to a restaurant and bought groceries (so I was carrying them home) because a random person asked ME for directions! I had no clue what they were saying and apoligized and so did he. It was funny. I also remember going to a very cool restaurant with Brian while I was in Paris. It was this buffet, however they only gave you one serving of meat, and then you had all the bread, cheese, salad, wine, etc. you could eat (and drink). You would pour the wine out of a barrel into a pitcher and then pour your glasses. The salad ...
