In the summer of 2003, I was working in Finland as an international trainee with IAESTE. For three months I worked at the Helsinki University of Technology and spent my social time with a group of other international trainees from all over the world. The images below are of my friends, workmates, surroundings and various destinations in the region. See the Finland picture page for the pictures behind the stories.
March 1, 2003 --- I GOT IT! (Now repeat ad nauseum)
After 3 months of filling out paperwork, writing essays, and making up resumes, IAESTE has nominated me for an internship position. Of the 9 positions I selected from the initial job list, this one was number 5, but who's complaining? Assuming everything works out with Visas and such, I will be living in Helsinki, Finland working for the Helsiniki University of Technology (HUT) from June 1 to August 31.
Quick Helsinki facts:
Average Summer High Temp. 68 Degrees.
Same latitude as Fairbanks Alaska
No such thing as night during summer months
About 3 hours by train from St. Petersberg Russia
Just an overnight ferry hop to Stockholm.

It'll be a wonder if I manage to graduate! (Only kidding, there's no way I'm staying for another semester, I will cut out sleep entirely if I have to!)
Leaving my friends is going to be hard. This is the first place I've ever lived for
