September 7, 2003: Another night in Amsterdam
First it was "They found it, it will be here tomorrow morning"
Then it was "It got delayed, it won't be here until tonight."
Then it was "It's not here yet, we called, no one knows where it is"
And now they tell me "Your pass is in the central lost and found office in a city about 50 miles from here. You can take the train to go get it."
Take a train to retrieve the pass I need to board trains. Brilliant, why didn't I think of that?
Luckily the fare is only about 7euro, so I won't be breaking the bank to get there. So tomorrow morning I call this place, make SURE they have the pass and whatnot, then grab the first train to the town, pick up my stuff, come back to Amsterdam, and THEN board a train for Bremen. If everything goes as planned (this time) I will arrive in Bremen a day late. It could have been a lot worse I suppose.
Well, I'm off to go find a place to stay tonight. Oh, and it's starting to rain. Someone is pointing at me and laughing right now, I just know it :) (but then again, when isn't someone doing that?)
September 8, 2003: On the train to Bremen
Making my way, listening to the blues amidst the clattering of the rails. Does it get any better than this? Well, it might have been a little better if I hadn't lost my eurail pass, but it has all worked out well enough I suppose.
I have officially given up any idea of getting the original pass. After all the nonsense with the rail office, they've told me that it's lost in the system and no one can tell me exactly where it is or when it might arrive. Because I have a rail-pass insurance card, I opted to buy another pass and will recoup the money when I get back to the states and file a claim with RailEurope. The only downside is that my 21 day replacement pass only
