First it was "They found it, it will be here tomorrow morning"
Then it was "It got delayed, it won't be here until tonight."...

Well, until next time, all the best to my friends at home and abroad.
September 9, 2003: A restful day in Bremen and some sad news from home
I finally made it to Bremen and I'm enjoying the hospitality of Dumitru and his girlfriend. They've been very kind and generous, and for the first time in a while I've been able to relax a bit without having to worry about how I'm going to manage the next day.
Bremen is a beautiful little city with quaint small streets and wonderful old churches and buildings. I think I'll go to Hamburg on a day-trip tomorrow just to take a look around. I'll be leaving for Köln on the 11th, and spending the night there before picking up my rental car on Friday the 12th. I should be at the track by Friday evening and might even get a lap or two in before the circuit closes for the evening.
I was just checking with some BMW club members this evening when I was informed that we had lost another driver this week. Charles Kloecker, an active member of the BMW club and an ever-present instructor at our performance driving schools, passed away sometime in the last few days. No one has any details for me, but I guess I'll get the whole story when I get home in October. Chuck was a very enthusiastic instructor that was always willing to help with anything a student or a school staff member asked of him. He and I spent a lot of time discussing different instructing techniques and driving attitudes over many late evenings at the GIR paddock. I'm shocked and dismayed that he's gone, and I'm saddened by the fact that I won't get a chance to say goodbye at the funeral. Another grave of a friend to visit in less than two years. If you'll forgive me I'm going to excuse myself and stop writing now.
