First it was "They found it, it will be here tomorrow morning"
Then it was "It got delayed, it won't be here until tonight."...

goes until September 28, so I'll be spending the last two days in Paris thus losing a day of travel time. Eh, as if anything I plan ever turns out in an expected or predictable way.
Well, in a way it all worked out. Last night I got a bit of a surprise when a girl was assigned to the same room with me (usually hostel dorms are split on gender lines). I had turned in a bit early and was under the covers in a less than presentable state of dress when she arrived. After I got over that little moment of "ummm... uhhh... hi" we chatted for what was probably an hour or better. Her name is Amanda and she's a military brat (Navy) from Seattle. We were going the same way in the morning and we ended up spending the day together getting our various travel papers figured out. After all of that we went in search of a wireless access point so we could both inform our friends at the other end of our respective rail journeys of when we would be arriving. It was pretty hilarious as we sat (on the ground in the middle of everything) in front of a bank, one of us holding the laptop and the other using it while we tried to angle it in such a way to catch a weak signal. I would have really liked a picture of that :)
She was a really pleasant person to spend some time with. I guess I hadn't noticed how long it had been since I'd had a nice, lengthy, intelligent conversation with anyone. We might end up in Munich around the same time later this month, so we might meet up again later. She's also planning to be in Eastern Europe during my PC (Peace Corps) tour, so we might be able to meet over a coffee or something sometime in 2004/2005 :) And to answer those that I know are asking it right now, yes, she was cute :)
Well, all told after the trip to Amsterdam I'm temporarily down by 611 euro for the new pass, late one day, and up by one new friend. Not so bad in the end I suppose. :)
