I’m now the proud owner of one of the best digital cameras produced by Canon.
I left Melbourne via the Caulder Highway and drove to Castlemain. Along the way I stopped a few times to try out the EOS-10D.
I have been this way many times and in the past have promised myself that I should take shots of the countryside. It was a good excuse to try all the settings on the camera. After a few hours I diverted from the Caulder Highway when I saw the sign to Castlemaine and drove into town and started looking for the motel. I assumed the company had pre-booked me into a Budget motel. I searched in vain. After inquiring in another motel the man behind the desk told me I was in the wrong town.
It turned out there wasn’t a member of the Budget chain in Castlemaine, so the company booked me into Harcourt Budget Motel, which is nine kilometres away. I parked the car outside reception and was greeted with a sign on the door that read. “If unattended go to the restaurant” I followed instructions and introduced myself to an elderly gentleman who took my details. Then he gave me a small jug of milk and handed me the key to room four. It’s a typical Budget Motel, very basic but has all the needs of somebody who only wants to use the room to sleep and store their gear while working in the area.
Drove out onto the Caulder Highway thinking the main business area would be just around the corner. It wasn’t! I was already in the area. There wasn’t anything to see if I continued so went back to the motel.
I sat alone in the restaurant with ten tables covered in burgundy tablecloths. The staff in the kitchen was not expecting many customers as I could only see three tables with cutlery. The owner’s wife told me what was on the menu and I ordered the second most expensive meal. Steak: $17.50. Ah, the high life, travelling for this company. About twenty minutes later I was tucking into a nicely cooked dinner.
