I always make myself available to join them.<br />This year I had asked and was granted the same area as I had worked last year, between Bourke and Collins Street at the Spring Street end of Melbourne.<br />My job is to ask the marchers if they want a photograph to remember the event. When they say "Yes" I take the shot then hand them a reference card. The company make the shots available to buy at a later stage.<br />

This year I had asked and was granted the same area as I had worked last year, between Bourke and Collins Street at the Spring Street end of Melbourne.
My job is to ask the marchers if they want a photograph to remember the event. When they say "Yes" I take the shot then hand them a reference card. The company make the shots available to buy at a later stage.
The first person I asked, declined and that response made me feel uneasy. Others were different and I soon had one spool exposed.
The diggers you meet and talk to at this event are friendly and interesting and most, only too eager to get a photograph to remember the event.
Most of the shots were taken as they were getting ready to move off. When the last of the groups had left my designated area. I walked along with the marchers. Getting great shots because I was able to photograph on the marchers side of the barrier, next to the ex soldiers. I finished up near the Shrine and only when I used the last reference card, did I start shooting with my digital camera. Twelve spools of film were exposed and a few files were added to my growing number of digital images. It was a good day.
Tuesday, 27 April
Today I drove down the Princes Highway to Traralgon. The weather was fine and the traffic light. I made good progress and put the key into the door of my motel unit mid afternoon.
Another Golden Chain Motel and not a bad one at that. With the twelve percent discount the accommodation only cost me $50 a night.
I found a pub in town that runs a Bistro and had a nice meal. It was a popular venue so I decided to book a table for the next two nights.
