Friday, 3 September 2004<br />Arrived in Beechworth on Tuesday night after photographing at a centre in the outer suburbs of Melbourne. The Golden Chain Motel just on the out skirts of town is a nice motel with a verandah around the outside. The back rooms have a commanding view of a valley with the township on the distant hill. I'm on the other side of the motel that doesn't have a view but the room is still good. I'm getting my meals at a pub in town that allows "charge back".

Arrived in Beechworth on Tuesday night after photographing at a centre in the outer suburbs of Melbourne.
It took me a bit of time to find the centre on Wednesday morning, when It eventually came into view I could not remember working in this Day Care Centre before.
I thought getting shots as the children played outside might make life easier later on in the morning. I found out later some of the older children go to a Kindergarten in the same building but not a room I was here to photograph. When it was time to start their sessions I discovered there was less children to photograph then I originally thought.
Babies were babies, toddlers were better and the pre school children were easy. I was finished at the centre by mid-day.
With my book work finished and films trimmed and catalogued. It was time to be a tourist. Beechworth is an old town with many buildings dating back to the days of Burke and Wills. Ned Kelley spent time in the towns law court and jail.
I spent a couple of hours looking at most of the tourist attractions. I using the video camera outside the Post Office when a lady came up to me and started talking about "feet care". She spoke in a European accent and I only caught a few key words of her conversation. I captured the event on video and it was only later when I watched on TV, did I realise she was inviting me to a free feet consultation.
After a full day I looked forward to a nice meal and sleep in the comfortable motel bed.
In all I spent three days in Beechworth. Each day a repeat of the day before, except on Friday when I drove back to Melbourne in the afternoon.
