Since I have never found myself so far away from home, I have never attempted any sort of travel journal before now. I have hunch that we are all in for some version of the truth. That is, knowing how faithful I will be to sharing an accurate and timely account of my travel experiences as time progresses. I thought that it might be cool to include some of the Australia terminology I am learning on a daily basis along (i.e. Word Bank) with some differences I see in the country in comparison to my experience as an American (i.e. Culture Shock 101). The Travel Tips portion of my entry will include those instances I find myself thinking "I wish I would have known _____". So with that said, let the adventure begin...

G'day Mates!
Well, I have safely arrived in Adelaide, Australia and find myself with some spare time to begin writing to all of you about my travel experiences to date. I began my journey on January 4th as I flew from the Austin airport into Denver only to be delayed for four hours due to winter weather conditions. It was great to see the white snow fall just outside the airport terminal but anxiety provoking as I intended to catch my flight into L.A. before evening. Weather cooperating, I did make it into L.A. an hour before boarding the sixteen hour flight into Sydney. To my total dismay, the flight was not as frightful as I imagined. Although very limited in moving space due to a full flight, the staff did a wonderful job keeping us (that is Amber, Kameron and I) entertained until about 1 a.m. at which time we consumed a dinner meal. With a full stomach and plenty of c.d.s I was able to sleep on and off until our arrival into Sydney at 9 a.m. on the 6th. A brief layover had us arriving into Adelaide early afternoon where we were transported to our accommodation via Myf, the daughter of the director of the social work program at Flinders Uni.
