Does it get any better than this...

With the addition of a new temporary travel companion (dad) things have changed a little - but certainly for the better!
On Sunday morning Mel and I made our way to Koblenz in Germany. It is a lovely town and our hotel was right on the water (a tributary to the Rhine) and only a 5 min walk into the centre. On our way to the hotel our cab driver informed us that we had arrived on a good day as today was their annual town festival. He then urged us to go into town as as there would be music, concerts and markets. Taking his advice we dumped our bags and had no difficulty finding the festival. It occupied the whole centre of town. It was fantastic! There was even wood chopping. German music could be heard as we wound our way through the streets and the smell of German sausages cooking was unescapable. The shops are not usually open on a Sunday but they were because of the festival and as the afternoon progressed the streets became more crowded and it was difficult to move. I could have staed at the festival all afternoon but I was expecting dad at either 3,30 or 4,30 depending on whether he made the first train.
So I sat downstairs in the hotel reception from 3,15 until 3,45 and then assumed he missed the first train. I then went down at 4,15 to wait for him again. When his cab pulled up I raced outside and ran up to it. It was quite a Hallmark moment as when I was running up to the car (no I didn't trip in true Nat fashion) dad got out, dropped his bag and met me half way for a big hug. It wasn't until I saw him that I fully realised he has just taken a week off work and flown half way around the world to spend a couple of days with me. WHat a wonderful, wonderful man and it is no wonder people say that I like to be treated like a Princess when one considers what my dad does for his 2 girls.
I had so much to share with him that I didn't know where to start. He had just come from Las Vegas so he had lots to tell me too.
