On Thursday morning Mel and I made our way to the train station in Berlin. We were running a little short on time and had the funniest morning. On our way to the station our cab got a flat tyre. Mel and I however, did not know he had a flat tyre and when he stopped, pulled over and motioned for us to get out of the car we had no idea what was going on! We thought we must have said somehting offensive or done somehting wrong. He had to take us around to the flat tyre and show us before we realised why he had pulled over with a grave look on his face.

It was a bit of a shamozzle actually. The mini bus (key word being 'mini) took us to meet up with another bus where some people had to change buses, except the organisers didn't seem to know who had to get on which bus. So we started the tour about 45 minutes late and had a sense of foreboding about the professionalism of our tour group. our guide, who was lovely had such a strong accent that we could barely understand what she was saying. AT one stage i asked Mel what an Art Deacon was and she told me she actually said Arch Deacon, that made much more sense. She pronounced muesum, muzoom which I found particularly amusing. Mel and I could not carry on with our usual witty banter as unless you were concentrating 100% on what she said you understood nothing. All in all the tour was fine. Prague is not the largest city so we were able to see a lot. Like some of the other tours we have done that condense everything, we would have loved to have gone inside and explored a lot of the places we only looked at. Fortunately we have another day here so we can now pick what we want to go back and see. We did however spend over an hour at Prague castle which gave us a good chance to walk around. It was spectacular and both Mel and I enjoyed it very much even though the weather was bitterly cold and we were quite uncomfortable walking around in the cool air. The highlight of the tour was the Cathedral in the Castle grounds which has several sets of stain glass windows that rival the windows at Sacre Coure (pardon the spelling) in Paris.

The tour finished at 1.30 and we were pretty much in the middle of town. We spent the rest of the afternoon wandering around, doing a bit of shopping and having a few coffees. Tonight I am going out for dinner with one of the gentlemen I met last night. As I mentioned above, I find it fascinating talking to people working in countries other than their own, so dinner should be lovely. Plus Prague is such an interesting city I am eager to hear more about it from a local. The generosity of some of the people I have come across so far in my travels really is astounding.

I have asked Mel to be a 'special guest writer' so expect to see a blog from here in the next couple of days. Mel is incredibly articulate and witty and will no doubt show my mediocre writing up. I trust you will enjoy it. She is also very honest so will probably mention some things about me that I have not written about... ie: my Princess like tendencies
