Two weekends ago I went for a long weekend to visit my favorite French friend Charlotte Robert who is studying in Dublin. As I’ve had requests for more pictures, I’ve done my best to try to add more despite the unstable Internet connection we have here.

Wednesday night before I left (with a belly full of practically free tapas and Agua de Valencia, which I enjoyed with my old roommate Margaret who was visiting for Spring Break yea!) I was somewhat concerned about where it was I was actually going once I arrived in Dublin. Internet had been down at school so I hadn't gotten to email Charlotte until the last minute and hadn’t heard back from her, so after some frantic flipping through the "Let’s Go Western Europe 2005" travel guide which included the city of Dublin, I decided that if all else failed and I couldn't find her I would just do a solo tour of Dublin for my first trip to Ireland.

down right beside me - but he certainly did and then to my surprise starts talking to me. . while patting my leg. Then once I got the “Que guapa eres” (aka You’re so beautiful) he got the
“I don’t speak Spanish anymore, I’ve forgotten and oh there’s my bus.” Lisa, bocadillo and luggage then made a quick escape to another bench away from the leg patting sketchy old man 1.

Luckily the shuttle came and I met a man (40 some years younger than the other one) who was also traveling to Dublin and whether he realized it or not was protected me from any other encounters with sketchy old men. Got to practice a lot of Spanish as he didn’t speak English and as he was going to attend the 6 Nations Rugby game that weekend in Dublin I also got an explanation as to why the plane was filled with French people - Ireland would be playing France. Safely made it to Dublin and was indeed greeted by Charlotte with a smile on her face. We then headed to the grocery store and went to a couple stores before we got on the bus to Dublin College University. Dropped off my stuff then headed back to the Center to do some sightseeing and get dinner. As Ireland is not known for its cuisine, we chose a very nice Italian restaurant and I dined on linguine one of the stillswith salmon - as I don’t get much pasta aka none - I was very pleased with this meal but not until after having a pint at the Temple Bar in true Irish fashion. I know everyone says you have a have a Guinness if you go to Ireland, but I was happy to have the cider instead.

All the stores began to close at 9, so we went back to DCU and hung out with some of Charlotte’s French friends. Quite the transition from Spanish to Irish English to French, but they were good about translating for me when I didn’t understand. An hour or so later we went back to Charlotte’s room and she decided it was time for an image change for her - out came the dark brown hair dye and the next thing she knew ...
