Good music, good food, and good friends... I am leaving in two days and couldn't have had a better weekend with my friends. We went to what is, in my opinion, the best State Park in Tennessee, Rock Island. After arriving on Friday with what seemed like enough food to last until next season, Austin, Thomas, Erin, George and I waited for the stragglers (Sarah, Kelly, and Anna) to find their way after going to the wrong park (Sarah and Anna) or getting both lost and a ticket (Kelly). =) Truly, though, it makes one feel very special to be surrounded by such intelligent, creative, and thoroughly good people. That night, the noises of dancing and playing and laughing and talking shot straight through the spaces in the heavy tree limbs, and my heart was both as open and as full as the sky. (cheesy but true)

I don't know why this always happens, but as sleepover tradition goes, we woke up absurdly early despite the hour and nature of the previous night's festivities... except for Thomas and Austin, who were probably up even later battling the killer moths that terrorized the former. After getting our land legs, we headed for
Scott King says, "Your true friends are the ones you can dance in front of."the water. The lake water was beautiful and cool. It was a good time. Then without Sarah and Anna, we headed to the gorge. This gorge is filled with jagged rocks, waterfalls, and cliffs... translation: the most fun in the universe! Austin, Thomas, and I had a blast jumping and swimming and flailing around all day and even saw a snake. I felt old later that evening when we all had to take naps, but the fun of the day was definitely well worth it. After regaining a smidgeon of energy, there was yet another great night of fellowship and a Taboo battle, "Team A" vs "Team 1", where everyone was a winner.

I have to conclude the brief (you're thinking, "that wasn't so 'brief'") description of the weekend by mentioning a "Now you can say you did it" type thing. Austin, Thomas, and I jumped off of a 45 foot beautiful cliff into an amazing pool surrounded by cold waterfalls. The jump was such a rush that I can't wait to do it again next summer. I can't say that I was the bravest; in fact, Thomas had to jump twice before I could do it, but I think it has a lot of applications towards my current situation. In two days, I will be jumping alone, but I have the most amazing and beautiful friends behind me and I'm grateful for the time we spent together.

P.S. Today I saw the most intact and vibrant rainbow that both my mother and I have ever seen, I think it's a great sign.
