Hi! Well, I have settled in quite well here. I am having a great time. Myself and my German friends went on a bus excursion all around East Devon. It was beautiful. There are miles of green fields stitched together with hedges. It's a horse's heaven. The hills remind me of Tennessee but are dotted with random ancient temples and beautiful toy-like homes. They look like little christmas ceramic villages when the lights come on at night. It seems everything happens inside in England, you must peek through the windows. The coast was just as I imagined, beautiful but grey. We rode the bus from twelve until eight at night for only £5! That's about ten bucks. I had my first fish and chips at a coastal town called Wheymouth. It was very greasy and delicious. =) I think I should steer clear of those because they can't possibly have any health value at all.
Lovely Devon

and try to hang in with the last year students. EEK! If I can't hang in there on this campus which is 30 minutes away, then I will be moving to a new city! Dios mio. I don't want that to happen so hopefully something wil work out. I did something else "real world" today, got a bank account. They are very reluctant to give accounts unless you're here for much more than a year, so we'll see how it goes. I also found a new breakfast bar and coffee shop called the Boston Tea __something__. I paid £5 (a lot) for a cup of coffee and "scrambled egg". I thought this would be one singular egg but NOOOO.. it was HUGE! It was an amazing scrambled dairy delight with basil and pepper and tomatoes. I kept the toast for later.
Everything here is about twice the price as America; I suppose I will become accustomed to it.
Maryville people will find this funny: Last night there was a fire drill in the building at about 3am. Being used to about one fire drill per week (b*astards) at Maryville, I completely disregarded it and went back to sleep. No one came to knock on my door so I figured everything was cool. I found out later that all of other occupants of the building stood outside in the cold for an hour! hahahhahaha Let me burn, I'm not getting up for another false fire alarm, ever.
Anyhow, I do apologize at the beachfor the slow decline of style in these entries. I try to write quickly because I have limited free internet use per day at the public library, and as a result the journal entry suffers. I hope no one is offended. Also, in October, there will be millions of pictures on here of where I live and my friends etc etc. I just can't put them up now because of afore mentioned time limits.
Things I've learned:
They call a yellow light an "orange" light here. hmmm..
I've already been corrected that a "restroom" is a "loo" but I'm not hearing that term everywhere. I'm still trying to figure out the proper word.
Women here are shaped very similarly to American women, but the men are very tall and skinny.
Everyone is very friendly but not touchy. I patted someone on the shoulder last night and he thought I was completely wasted (which I wasn't).
