Hmmmmm.....<br />Well me car and I made it back in one piece, which definitely surprised me little Mama. Didn't get around to putting a single entry on this either, cos I couldn't really convince myself that driving through a little bit of western Europe really constituted travelling, or even anything exciting to write about. But over time, the tirades of abuse landing in my inbox ground me down so here's a dullish overview of how it went:
I'm all TEFL'd out...

Hmmmmm.....Well me car and I made it back in one piece, which definitely surprised me little Mama. Didn't get around to putting a single entry on this either, cos I couldn't really convince myself that driving through a little bit of western Europe really constituted travelling, or even anything exciting to write about. But over time, the tirades of abuse landing in my inbox ground me down so here's a dullish overview of how it went:
Drive down took me about a week. Once in Spain managed to see Zaragoza and Córdoba (which was lovely). Once in Sevilla some friends of my parents' friends looked after my car to stop it getting too bashed up by the crazy locals. Then spent the next week at the Feria de Abril. Which it turns out is a week long celebration of drinking, eating, flamenco and the notion of excess. Luckily I got down with some locals as Sevillanos can sometimes be a rather snobby, cliquey lot and the festival isn't really geared for tourists but, thanks to David and friends, managed to have a pretty cool week pretending to be Spanish (trust me, I had them all fooled!)
Blah blah, four week intensive How To
Basically the drive home was the only time I actually ever had my camera with me. Apologies again for the hair.Teach English course. First couple of weeks were ok, last couple a bit of a drag, although I got a reasonable result at the end of it so can't really complain.
Hung around for a week afterwards while some mates came a-visiting. Highlight of that week would be going to watch CF Sevilla try and tonk Real Madrid while I did my best to help by abusing Beckham, Owen et al from the safety of the stands. Atmosphere was pretty crazy and a last-gasp equaliser from Sevilla left the game drawn at 2-2.
Then started the long and, er, long drive home. Actually that was pretty cool, cos the sweetest American girl you could imagine decided she didn't wanna leave Europe so she came along for a cheeky whstlestop tour, which consisted of a couple of nights in Madrid going out and doing stuff, a night in Barcelona going out and doing not very much, two nights visiting a mate of mine who's working on a campsite near Perpignan (southern France) staying in - I heard once that its the new going out - before spending a couple of nights in Paris mainly walking around big streets and climbing up big fuck-off pointless iron towers. Made it back home last week and girl in question is now living at mine, ineligible to work in Europe and without enough money to get out, ha!!!
Plans for flying out to Mexico are slowly getting a bit delayed as I'm not really sorting out my life as quickly as I'd hoped I might. On top of that I've spent a fair wad more than I meant to so I might have to do a few weeks' work in a new and exciting environment. (Now where did I put that County Hall phone number...?) As for leaving drinks, I guess they'll be correspondingly slapped back a bit but don't fret.... there'll still be a chance for me really to scrape the barrel and regale you with stories that weren't quite fascinating enough even for this awesome little diary entry (don't worry, I know you loved it really). Onwards and upwards....
