The big Birgittamobil brings us to Linköping station, the kiddies are coming with us, Ciarán stays home to look after the house.
It is a complicated journey: we take three trains to get to Göteborg. A taxi takes us to Hotel Flora, smack right in the middle of the city, on Grunsackerstorg - the vegetable market.
Our room is decorated in white and is quite basic, but this is not an expensive hotel, the shower is spacious enough for a whole football team and we have a view over the rooftops.
We are exhausted from the trip and go off for a meal on a terrace in the centre, restaurant "Källargkrögen". In the evening we watch the last episode of the thriller we had started to watch in Stockholm.
Tuesday morning after breakfast we are off to the Göteborg Maritime Centre. This is the largest floating museum in the world. We walk along Stenpiren to breathe in the sea breeze and look at the ships passing by. We have coffee on a gently rocking boat that is moored at the quay . In the distance we see a huge building in red and white and try to guess what it is. It turns out to be an office building nicknamed "the Lipstick" by the locals because of its unusual architecture and colours. We walk on to the centre and have "American buffet" for lunch in a shopping area. Stockholm prices are reserved to Stockholm - so far the rest of the country has been affordable.
It is sunny outside, so we sit in the park for a while. Then Jack and I split up for a few hours: I will look at shops and he will have an afternoon nap. We had a nice evening meal at a window table in restaurant Bruggeriet, not far from our hotel.
Wednesday morning we think it may be nice to take a guided boat trip along the city. "Paddan" organise just the thing: so early in the day, we are about ten people in the boat which can take a lot more passengers,
