The direct SAS flight to Stockholm is on time. The plane is not full and very comfortable, the flight is only a couple of hours. At Stockholm airport we take a train to the central station, where we take the metro to Slussen station, a few hundred meters from our accomodation.
We have a big room with a big bed, television and lots of seating space. The kitchen contains such essentials as olive oil, sugar, salt and washing up liquid left by previous guests. Luckily the shop next to Slussen metro is open for most of the day. Still, after our long travel, we want to explore the city center and have a bite to eat in a cosy restaurant. We walk for some time in the city centre, and in Stora Nygatan we find an Italian restaurant. We get a few tiny scampi in a ton of tasteless batter and the only thing that's hot is the bill.
The next day is Sunday but it is everything but sunny. We want to explore the regio north of our living quarters. The Gamla Stan (old town) is full of old shops and coffee bars. We share a very nice cream bun with berries in one "konditori".
After a home-cooked lunch, we go out again. Just as we are out of the door, the rain starts pouring down. We take refuge in the Museum of Modern Art. It is expensive and overrated, but it keeps us dry for a while. When we go out again it is still raining and my feet hurt terribly. Jack has heard that the Grand Hotel is the most expensive in Stockholm, so why don't we look inside at how the other half lives while we rest a bit and wait for the rain to stop ? We look like two bums with our dripping clothes and our wet hair but as a tourist you don't mind that sort of thing. We just sit at the bar and drink Martinis and eat spicy peanuts.
Having been ripped off in the restaurant the previous day, we have done some research for this evening. If it is going to be expensive, it may as well be good. In the Lilla Nygatan,
