farmhouses and country houses. The landscape is coloured with fruit trees, almond, olive, pine and Holm Oak trees. At 3.9 Km. we find a small shrine devoted to Maria Auxiliadora whose day is celebrated with processions on the 24 th May.
We follow the main track and at 4.3 Km. we ignore a track on the left. 200 meters later we reach the Pilar de Cartajima, midway point of our route.
Many Ronda people take the drinking water from this fountain to their homes.
From here a track on the right goes upstream and another on the left crosses it. (optional departure points 2 and 3)
We return the way we came till we reach the shrine of the Virgin, here we take the track on the left flanked by wild flowers. We reach the house of la Luna (the Moon) . We are now on a path which joins another which we take to the right running alongside the power lines. When this path becomes a track we can appreciate the view of the Sierra of las Nieves on the right with the dark patches that mark the Pinsapo forests. It is often possible to observe a pair of kestrels circling around here.
The path climbs another hill to level out between olive and almond trees. Leaving behind a luxurious chalet on the right, we pass the patio of San Francisco school. We follow the track that joins an asphalt street which leads us to the Ronda-Algeciras road and in front of us we see two tracks. The one on the left goes to the Tajo del Abanico route nº 9.
And on the right to the Virgen de la Cabeza, route nº 8.We have walked 7.Km which takes around two and a half hours.
