Got up early to make it to breakfast and to watch us coming into the port of Venice which was very beautiful.
We were all happy to get off the boat and cheered when we saw Ryan drive our faithful Contiki bus off the ship.
Our Tour Manager made an announcement on the bus and said that there had been rumours on the boat that it wasn’t the right boat, but it was and that if we have issues we should come to him and he will tell us the truth, even though he said people would say he wouldn’t… it was a straight out lie again. The Greek employees on the boat told us that they normally carry Contiki but not on this boat and yes, the one that we normally go on was better. Imagine our surprise….
As we had arrived early, apparently buses aren’t allowed in Venice till after 6pm, so we had to go to Veron. As a ‘treat’ they said they would take us to the Ferrari test track. I only saw one Ferrari. We had a nice lunch and then headed into Veron, the home of Juliet’s balcony. People had stuck love notes to the wall on the
way in to see the balcony.
Had gelato and looked through the markets then drank some wine in the sunshine… for a change!!
Three girls missed the bus and luckily I remembered I had one girl’s phone number and managed finally after a heap of phone calls and texts to get hold of them and we went back and picked them up. They’d already made their way to the train station and were getting ready to board a train through to Venice!
We finally made it into our hotels, we were split between two, and again there was no air con in ours unless you wanted to pay €5 a night!! I’ve never heard of this anywhere!!! Damn stingy Italians!! That’s just so bad, don’t know why they just don’t increase the cost of the rooms by that amount and be done with it… but after the
