Legnica Theatre was established over 25 years ago. It conducts permanent activities based of its own professional performance team. From the mid 1994 the theatre is managed by Mr. Jacek Głomb, who invited young actors-Wrocław and Cracow Theatre Academy graduates - to create a true multigenerational theatre in Legnica.

Legnica Theatre was established over 25 years ago. It conducts permanent activities based of its own professional performance team. From the mid 1994 the theatre is managed by Mr. Jacek Głomb, who invited young actors-Wrocław and Cracow Theatre Academy graduates - to create a true multigenerational theatre in Legnica.







The theatre is known for its unconventional and exceptional performances, such as open-air shows in Piast Castle, St. Mary Church, former Kolejarz Cinema, warehouses etc. The theatre is also famous for its artistic journeys. Its team has already performed on the stages of numerous theatres in Poland (Warszawa, Łódź, Katowice, Wrocław, Gdańsk, Kwietniki, Białołęka, Paszowice) as well as abroad (Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania, Russia, Spain).







Legnica Theatre often takes part in numerous festivals and contests, both in the country and outside its boarders. The theatre�s performance of Shakespeare's 'Koriolan' on The International Theatre Festival in Edinburgh in 2001 was one of the biggest successes of the team.



The theatre is one of the most frequently awarded theatres in Poland.





Facts worth mentioning:

Gedenensee Theatrum fund promoting Shakespeare's work recognised two of theatre's performances as 'the best Polish dramatic works of
W. Shakespeare' (1996 - 'As you like it', 1999 - 'Koriolan'),

Performance entitled 'The ballad about Zakaczawie' won the main prize on the 7-th National Contest for the best contemporary performance in 2001, and prior to this, in 1997, J. Głomb was awarded for the staging of performance 'Bad' by L. Tyrmand.


*
In 2001 'The ballad about Zakaczawie' was awarded 'A Diamond of Lower Silesia 2000' in the category Cultural Event of the Year.


*
J. Głomb received the most prestigious award for a stage director - Konrad Swinarski Award - for 'The ballad...'


*
Film version of 'The ballad...' won the special prize on the 2-nd State Festival of Polish Radio Theatre and Polish TV Theatre - 'Two Theatres - Sopot 2002'


*
After 2000 the theatre won numerous awards on festivals in Zabrze, Łomża, Bydgoszcz, Tarnów, Łódź, Kalisz etc.
