I gave them my assessment and thanked them for their hard work and dedication. I said goodbye to my European friends and left for the airport early the next morning.
Germany (Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, Heidelberg, Stuttgart) - After working all day, I flew from Doha, Qatar to Dubai, Emirates and then to Frankfurt, Germany from 9 PM to 7:00 AM. We flew over Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Macedonia, Hurgary, Switzerland and finally Germany. Just before we landed I could see the Alps behind us with a breathe-taking sunrise over Frankfurt. However, after being awake almost all night, I was not in the mood for games, but one was about to be played. Germany has union labor for everything you can imagine. I had to wait almost an hour for a union employee responsible for carrying my wheelchair to me even though it was right at the bottom of the stairs and I could see it. I told them I would crawl down the stairs and get it myself, they told me no - so I had to wait. Finally after going through customs, I was met at the airport by a DynCorp Manager and we drove to Wiesbaden and audited one of our sites. It is deep in the mountains and looks like Pennsylvania. The leaves were still changing, the sky was overcast and dark and getting cold, so it reminded me of my home in New York State. Then we drove to Heidelberg (where every home is a German postcard) to another site and the commander presented us with an award for performance. We drove to the beautiful Queens Hotel in Heidelberg and by the time I lay down, I had been awake over 36 straight hours. After almost 12 hours of sleep, we ate a German breakfast of meats, cheeses, fresh yogurt with wild berries, and strong German coffee (one of my favorite breakfasts in the world). Then we drove to Stuttgart where I audited my fourth site in just two days. After lunch, we drove back to Heidelberg and audited my last site on the trip.
