this flight, but it is often too cloudy to see anything. However, something happened while flying over Greenland that I shall never forget. I happened to look out of my window as we flew from the North Atlantic over Greenland. There were no clouds and I could see from horizon to horizon. The water was a gorgeous blue-green and full of Ice Bergs as big as aircraft carriers and they headed out to sea past the horizon. It was breathtaking. I could almost hear the water say, "I am the most beautiful - yet the Sun said nothing." Then I looked at the land. It was covered with snowcapped mountains and they glistened like tinsel. The enormous mountains were majestic against the deep blue sky. "I thought I heard the land answer back, "no I am more beautiful - yet the Sun said nothing." Just then I looked toward the horizon as something caught my eye. It was the Aura Borealis - the Northern Lights. It danced through the sky with blue, yellow, red and orange streaks. I was mesmerized. It was like looking into a camp fire except it was 100 times more beautiful. The sky answered and said, "no see I am more beautiful - yet the Sun said nothing." As the water, land and air continued to argue as to who was the most beautiful, the Sun still said nothing but began to set. All three of them said, "wait Sun, no one can see our beauty without you, we cannot evaporate water to feed the plants and animals, you give life to planktin to feed the fish, you bring warmth and life. We cannot live without you," they all said in unison. The Sun continued to set and said all he needed to say, "I am glad you know you need me - I will return tomorrow. You need the dark hours to appreciate the days of sunshine." With that the sun set but gave off the most beautiful beams of orange light with a promise to return. Yes, the SON will return!
