We have moved hostels again. Dhammika's mother died. Can you believe that? The poor guy has lost four family members in five months. Anyway, the funeral is in his house (dead body and all), is for ten days, and is 24 hours a day. So, we have moved out for ten days. My new place is divine, right on the beach (with a natural, thirty feet high, boulder-strewn wall blocking the pounding Indian ocean).

It is located on the other side of a small peninsula, outside of the calm bay, so the water is incredibly rough. I can hear the pounding of the surf all night. No worries about tsunami because of the humongous boulders, which blocked most of the water last time from damaging the hotel. But my ear still subconsciously listens for the ebb of the wave. It has a different sound then the flow, which is coming in, and if I don't hear it my brain automatically registers panic. The other night the pouring rain was a constant water sound that jolted me awake in a fright. Next time you are at the beach, listen for the ebb of the tide. It is a different sound and was the sound that never came on the morning of the 26th.
Hope all is well with everyone at home. Memorial Day Weekend is here and that is one of my favorite times of the year! Enjoy!
