Khajuraho is a little off the beaten path, although the town's temples are rather famous -- or infamous. These ancient buildings are famous for being covered with many intricate erotic sculptures.
A small tour group of Westerners was also at our hotel. At breakfast, we joked about all these pervert tourists. At the temples themselves, plenty of people (Western and Indian) giggled over the kinky art.
I found it enchanting. Such fine detail and expressiveness! The voluptuous women danced, wrote love letters, and took part in tantric sexual positions with the relatively few male figures. The sculptures seemed overwhelmingly female -- dozens and dozens of celestial beauties decorated all the structures.
And the women are all so lush, round, and delightful -- it is truly a divine representation of the feminine spiritual and life force. I just hope the many pix we took can capture this unique spot and remind us of India's treasures.
