Sometimes, you just want to relax on a trip. For us, most travel is about seeing new places, exploring different cultures, and packing as much into a short time as possible. But even we need a break. The classic tropical vacation fits the bill.

humid, but not unbearable. There were always ocean breezes to cool it down, and nights were delectably sultry. We only saw a touch of rain on the final morning of our second trip.
Most days were devoted to simple relaxation. We lazed in chairs on the beach, then hung out at the pool. I read silly fashion magazines while Thomas dozed. I never really appreciated sunbathing till my first visit to Jamaica. As a kid, I played in the sun and tried to not get burned. As a teen and adult, I tried to keep as pale as possible. But I didn't realize how seductive the sun's rays can feel on your skin. Screw that goth stuff, I want the silky hot caress of the sun on my face! We loaded on the sunscreen and managed to avoid burns. We returned home each time with just a faintly golden glow in our faces.
The Rooms
Our room was in the Paradise block, very near the center of the resort (convenient, yet noisy, as mentioned). It was a Honeymoon Grande Luxe Beachfront Suite, though it wasn't anything I'd call a suite. It was just an average-sized hotel room with a balcony. But the view from the balcony was totally worth the money -- we looked directly out onto the beach! Hella gorgeous blue-green ocean, framed by swaying palm trees, and fronted by a fringe of white sand. It was like gazing out into a perfect picture postcard.
Other than that, the room was standard: king-size four poster bed; desk and chair; small table with two chairs; amoire with large TV; nightstands and lamps; small closet with iron and board, plus robes and beach towels; minibar with fridge and lots 'o liquor, juice, and sodas, all refilled upon request; and a marble-accented bathroom of reasonable size with plenty of thick bath towels. On the balcony were two chairs and a table, a nice setting for room-service meals.
