while we were lying on our respective beds, requested a foot massage, which I never really took her up on, silly bugger that I am.

Next morning got up early to go to the Highwire jump, which is basically a gondola/ jumping platform suspended on some wires over a river, about 130m up; I was shit scared just going on this suspended platform (with a see-through glass floor) but Cath did the jump no problem and was even disappointed at the lack of thrill. Met a Canadian guy worked as an English teacher in Japan, he had one of those little digital cameras as well, and decided I definitely want one of those.

Kepler

Met Heike and Kerry in the DOC office back in QT and decided to do the Kepler trek together and to meet up for a night out in Queenstown in a few hours. Saw Cath off at the bus station with a few awkward hugs and kisses ( I think I am the worst person ever at saying good bye). Spent the rest of the day in my new hostel (Motel Lodge?) reading Grisham’s “The Runaway Jury”, very good book again, but I think I am through all of his books now which is a shame.

Went out with Heike, Kerry and an Irish girl called Elaire or something; went to various pubs and clubs but failed to find a good place really and just ended up in a place full of Kiwi Experience people.

Today is my first day alone in ages. Slept in as hung over and finished the book on the comfiest sofa in the world. Then decided to go up Ben Lomond Mountain to get some exercise. Got the Gondola up and then walked top the top and back in 3.5 hours. Very nice walk really, but exhausting too as some steep bits at the end. On the way back, at the Gondola station got talking to an American girl called Becky and I bought her a beer. She was a bit nutty, laughing loudly everything I said, and at everything she said as well, which was a bit disturbing, but she was cute and ...
