seems to know a lot of posh people back in the UK though the himself lived in Africa, New Zealand, Cook Islands and now Fiji for the last 40 years or so. Guys he referred to as 'saucy pricks', girls had a choice of room for a 'club sandwich' and the local Indians where tighter that a nuns xxxx. Almost every sentence had a sexual reference, hard to figure out where he was coming from at first, but I the end we all agreed that he was harmless enough and probably just a bit frustrated that he was effectively living with his parents while he knew there usually was a selection of young girls sleeping in the dorm rooms.

First night after Katja left I went to the happy hour at the hotel across the road, met the Scuba Diving boys (only really remember Martin who was from somewhere around Leeds, good bloke), then got chatting to Diana and Rona, two Scottish girls who had been at the place for two weeks. One of those conversations where we just clicked and soon we were done with the small talk and moved on to more interesting talk about cream scones vs black forest gateaux and other philosophical topics (where the cream scone is your long term partner and the gateaux is the super fit person you meet on holiday). Got very drunk that night, the next day felt like death, first sign of a sore throat and a cold coming.

Had a good routine going though, went to Suva in the morning to check my mail and try to trace my jacket that I stupidly forgot at Raro airport, then went to the beach, running and swimming for a while, then back to the hostel for dinner and lots of beers. Not thrilling, but healthy and loosing wait every day.

Two days ago went to the forest park, just outside Suva, not that great, but it had a good swimming whole at the lower pools with a rope attached to a tree next to the pool. There were a couple of locals who did the most incredible jumps, double somersaults with a couple of side twists, dropping from about five or six meters. I decided to have a go as well and the first two attempts were OK but on the third go I tried to do a flip and ended up falling straight on my stomach from about 5 meters. Shit that hurt, I could not breathe and when I opened my mouth this really strange sound came out, but was OK after a few minutes, no more diving though.

On the way back got chatting to an English couple, he wanted to play rugby in Tonga but no luck, and the same happened in Fiji. They were really broke, 120$ for one week for the both of them, sleeping on a guys floor in a shanty town outside Suva, bread and water for the week, no money for the bus. I offered to lend them money, but no going. So I told them to hitch hike down to Pacific Harbour for the day just to lie on the beach. They did that the next day and we had some good talk about mountain biking in the UK.

Then new people, Maria, Chinese girl from Oxford, her tow Australian diving buddies, and Ben, dope head surfer dude from the States, as well as Heidi, astudent/part time model from Denmark doing part of her degree in Suva. A good group of people, but flu has finally taken effect and I have so little energy that every long conversation seems like a drag. It is frustrating to have nice people around but at the same time I wish that I would be on some island on my own. It am sure it is just because I am ill, it all comes down to levels of energy I think…but anyway, enough writing for today...off to the States next.
