Hope everyone is fine and enjoying the coming of May and the end of the school year, temperatures on the rise and all that. It is incredibly hot here. I have a little thermometer and have clocked the average temperature in our room to be around 93. It is a cool 90 in the morning, a steamy 97 in the afternoon, and a sweaty 93 in the evening. We have a ceiling fan, which helps, but the heat takes some getting used to. There is one place in town that is air conditioned, a food store, and sometimes I just go in and wander around until the sweat dries on my body. I am doing Bikram yoga in my room to the tune of 95 degrees.

I am happy to announce that my phone is fully operating now. I was having issues with the battery, which is why I couldn’t talk to anyone when they called as my phone just kept shutting off. Keep in mind the time difference if you want to call. We are ten hours ahead of you, and light years behind in so many ways. I pay if you call, but not that much. Again, texting is the way forward! My phone, affectionately called my bling bling phone as the former user painted it a glittery silver, is second-hand and an old clunky Nokia which was my first cell phone ever, about five years ago. It is, however, priceless to have a phone, and I will never, ever travel without one again.
As far as the bus accident at the railway crossing, it was not shocking at all. Many buses drive through barriers like train crossings to get more passengers on their bus and therefor make more money. Eighty people died on that bus. In Sri Lnaka, the bus drivers, and everyone else for that matter, are absolute lunatics. Driving here is like being in a video game. You get extra points for overtaking a vehicle. Bonus points if you are overtaking something bigger than you, like a tuk tuk overtaking a truck. Extra bonus points if you are overtaking a vehicle that is already overtaking another vehicle
