So where did I leave you? Ah that's right, on the way to the magical city of Salzburg. I left Vienna with dreams of rolling hills, small children skipping merrily around fountains, and the sweet, crisp notes that we have all grown so fond of - "The hills are alive with the sound of music..."

the hostel, but then I saw the little building in the distance, set into some castle walls, emerging from the fog. Finally i had made it to the little NaturFreundHaus. The owners were quite shocked to see me stumble into their little establishment, I was the only guest at the whole hostel!! Quite an odd experience after spending the past two months staying with 200 plus people each night. Later that night it appeared that the NaturFreundHaus had gound another victim, another girl from Sydney actually, so we were able to keep each other company.


Apart from my hostel experiences in Salzburg, it wasnt really a very interesting city. The whole place had really overdosed on Mozart chocolates (which incidentally dont even taste very good). It seems that the town was never able to move on since Mozart was born in the 1600''s or whatever. They sort of need to get a life. Sorry Salzburg.


I managed to find a vegetarian restaurant somehow on one of my escapades. It was called ''Spicy's Strange Spices'' or something like that and the owner was very, ah .... eccentric. So after two nights in Salzburg I was quite happy to fork out another 40 euros to get out off that strange little place.

Onto my next destination: Hungary.

to the Hare Krishna farm about two hours away. Driving through the gates into ''Krishna Valley'' was really like driving into another world. The whole community of about 100 devotees live completely natural lifestyles, so there was no electricity and there was a well to get your water. It was the most beautiful community that I had ever seen, and the simple, natural lives seemed so much more advanced than our hectic timetables these days. The temple room was ...
