After my experiences in Belgium I must admit that I wasn't particularly excited about the prospect of two months in Italy and France. One month later I am still counting down each day before my flight to India, though I have had a blast here as well.

So it all began when I flew into Rome airport from Brussels where I met up with my mum. It was so good to see a familiar face! We had so much to catch up on so spent the first day chilling out and chatting, though its been pretty full on since then. Rome was just beautiful. It was so gorgeous to see how the life of the city was going on all around the ruins which were thousands of years old, the old and new existing peacefully together. The ruins themselves were pretty breathtaking - its hard not to be blown away by the amount of history in each building, and the grand scale of everything.

After a few days of sightseeing in Rome, we picked up our car and set offm with no real idea where we were going. Somehow or other a few hours later (and after a few very close calls with mum on the wrong side of the road), we ended up at the Hare Krsna property near Florence called Villa Vrindavana. It was such a beautiful property there, and everyone was so sweet that we ended up staying for a whole week! The property there is a huge 500 year old villa with over 150 rooms, beautiful gardens and a fountain... I really feel like I got a true Italian experience there (especially when they got us working in the kitchen!!!) I really didn't want to leave but the rest of Italy was waiting and time was running out!

At Villa Vrindavana
there we travelled further up the country to the canal-city of Venice. All i can say is WOW! Venice was the most beautiful (excuse my lack of vocab) city I had ever seen, every corner was picture perfect. It was so much more beautiful than on any of the postcards. So we decided to spend longer there, just exploring ...
