Vietnam and beyond......
There's a stream, and there's bamboo,
There's mulberry and hemp.
Mist-hidden, clouded hamlet,
a mild, tranquil place.
Just a few tilled acres.
Just a few tiled roofs.
How many lives would I have to live, to get that simple?
Saigon.
After a far too busy time in which I often wondered why I was doing everything in the first place, the 25th of July had finally arrived. It seemed that life was just work and even the weekends couldn't let me slow down and let me relax a bit. I was used to be totally exhausted when holiday was knocking on my door, this time I realized that there was more that needed to be done. In upcoming there's a brief intro about this item.
My KLM plane left for Paris on schedule. My neighbor was Jeroen, a second year student of Psychology in Utrecht. He was heading for India with only a 1000 guilders in his wallet. This was supposed to be enough for two month living he said. "In the Netherlands they pay you to study!" were some of his remarkable words. Indeed, he traveled by his scholarship from the Dutch Government.
Dubai was the next stop, I wonder sometimes; I don't pay that much money for airplane tickets, but with only a little bit more I could have been on a direct flight, something worth considering next time. The air temperature of 42 Celsius was not because of the airplane engines I soon realized. It was 21.30 in the evening... I enjoyed my time waiting for the next Vietnam Airlines flight in the airport lounge. A Porsche in the tax-free shop.. the African world meeting the Middle East, new impressions everywhere I looked.
