After getting ripped off by 2 pounds by dodgy taxi drivers at the border, we got herded into a Trotro and arrived in Ougadougou the capital of Burkina Faso. A good one to know for late night pub quizes! I am know drawing on my GCSE French but am finding it ok although the pronounciation is a little different. There are German aid workers in Ghana speaking English with African accents!
24/7/03 - just received an email form Mat whom I met with his girlfriend on that dodgy border and spent time in Ouga with, he has created a website about his time in Africa, especially working as aid worker in Cote D'Ivoire before being evacuated when civil war broke out, see his website at:

The African handshake also takes a while to master and learn all its variations. Various hand positions and clicking of fingers and punching of fists. Its a bit of a ritual here to greet everyone you meet even in the street. Bonjour, ca va, then at least one handshake.

After sorting out a few visas in Ouga and visiting the SIAO West Afican Arts and Crafts show where there also happened to be the opening ceremony for the Tour De Faso bicycle race.
