Uganda
Taking the minibus from Kigali in Rwanda I was joined by Korean missionaries singing Christian songs in Korean, not quite what you would expect. Then I was in Uganda, time is running a bit short now and it's a shame to be moving on so quickly through some places. But Uganda is wonderfull to travel by bus, past green tea plantations, green mountains, green, green, green, truelly one of the most beautifull places I've been. First stop at Kabale and Lake Bunyonyi at the cool altitude of 1800m. We canoed out through a surreal hobbit like landscape, across this dark green tranquil crater lake with perfect reflections of the many terraced landscape to Jasper's island resort, a basic campsite used to raise money for the local school.

Here I met and travelled for a few days with Ivonich and Fred, two agricultural student volunteers from France. They'd spent most of their time living in villages and had mastered all the sighs and shrieks that African's use in conversation. It's almost possible here in Africa to have a conversation with just responses like eeh, uhha, mmm, mmhmm, aah and mouthclicks, it's quite subtle and takes some getting used to.

We bussed it through Queen Elizabeth NP to spend the night in Kasese under the snow peaks of Rhuwenzi, the famous mountains of the moon on the Congo border. The next day I visited the chimpanzees at Kibale NP, there is the highest concentration of primates in the world here. Chimps are quite large primates and they are the closet animal species to homo sapien.

Not quite Gorrillas in the Mist but more like Chimps in a mountain rainforest torrential rainstorm. I still don't have a waterproof and was soaked through while navigating flood streams on the footpath. After 2 hours we thankfully located a family of five. They were relaxingly munching leaves on the canopy top. After a while they climbed down to about half the height and through binoculas we got a good ...
