A Wonderful weekend in North Devon, England. The was a round trip experiencing the wonderful counties of Dorset, Somerset and Devon. And admired views of Porlock, Lynmouth, Ilfracombe and the shores of Croyde.

It all started on a bank holiday weekend, Me and a few friends were all trying to decide on where to go for the long weekend and after some discussion we decided we wanted a place where we could see amazing views, have fun, drink and, most importantly,... Relax...

As I had lived in Somerset many years ago, I remembered what somerset and devon were like. Little friendly pubs, comforting cafe's and amazing views.

Our first stop was Taunton in Somerset. Apart from some new refurbished pubs, I was surpised how little the town had changed in the last 7 years. All the memories came flooding back before i could sip my first pint of cider!

After our first day in Taunton we decided to move north towards Glastonbury famous Hill "The Glastonbury Tor" and the world renowned Glastonbury Festival site at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somserset.

Pilton in Somerset has such amazing views only really explainable through photographs (which we have happily included below) and it's hardly imaginable that for one weekend in June the small village expands to an area the size of a very large town and is packed with over 140,000 people for englands biggest music festival.

Our plan was to head for the North Devon and somerset coastal road (the A39) and our first stop was Dunster near Minehead.

Where minehead is famous for it's Butlins camping and entertainment centre there are much more interesting and fascinating things close by.

One of which is Dunster Castle which is filled with magnificent architecture and history as well as providing you with acres of lush green land to admire.

The second of which is the road that follows .... It is an amazing road that follows the coastal path right along the Norton Devon coast....

You go up the famous Porlock Hill which has a 1 in 4 climb and descent, and from the top you can see miles of hills on one side and the superb coast the other (see photos). Plus you will almost certainly get to see the sheep, lambs and other animals living at the top of the hill

Next is the quaint english villages of Lynton and Lynmouth which are recommended to stop by on the way throuh.

Just try and stop yourself being tempted to stop, pick up some real english seaside "fish and chips" and sit on one of the many rocks by the sea and just smell the sea air.

The final part of our journey was to finish our coastal tour, visit Ilfracombe (which is also wonderful by the way...!) and end up at our intended destination.... Croyde Bay.......

Croyde has the most amazing sandy beaches in England. Even when the tide is in, the beaches are enormous. It is quite popular with surfers aswell as with visitors in need of a more relaxing break.

There are a number of small pubs and restaurants which always have a lively and friendly atmosphere.... or maybe you just prefer to pick up a few bottles of wine and sit on the dunes watching the sunset.
