Weekend-Travel from 14. to 16. November 2003.After having received a cheap offer for spending a weekend in Rome from our travel agency, we decided to enjoy the sun once more and to fly in the South. The flight started at 6.15 a.m. and therefore we had to get up at 3.00 a.m. in the morning, but it was worth it. We flew into a wonderful sunrise and reached Rome after one hour and ten minutes flying time. From the airport we took the "Leonardo Express" to the "Termini" which is the central station. From there we took the "Metro" and finally arrived at our hotel. And from there, we were ready to start our adventure

contrary to Italian post, this one is working very well. Therefore, it can be seen as an ordinary state with a lack of upcoming generation that consists mainly of men.yBecause of the fact that we were already fascinated by the "Petersplatz" the day before, we once more went there to enjoy a magnificent view from the dome of the "S. Pietro" upon Rome. This was another highlight of this day. After having passed numerous security measures, we entered the small state, took the elevator the dome and climbed another 320 stairs to it's top. This was really worth the effort, because from there, we had a wonderful view over the whole Vatican, over the "Petersplatz" and many parts of Rome. This "Petersplatz" was illuminated in the twilight dust (photo on the right). The "Petersplatz" is magnificent at night. We stayed until everything was bathed in light and enjoyed this view once more. Our third day we created a little bit calmer because our legs had been very busy the past two days. We went for a walk and had a look at the area round our hotel. We walked down the "Tiber" towards the city and enjoyed the last sunbeams before we returned home to the cold Munich at 3.45 p.m.

It was a wonderful weekend and everyone who already visited the ancient metropolis knows, why it is called the "eternal Rome". The beauty spots and sights are immense as well as incalculable. Even beyond the narrow lanes there are splendid and artful ruins and monuments. It doesn't matter where you are, there is always something to see. During this 2 1/2 days, we explored the city mostly on foot, but we are far from having seen everything.

Beware of the gladiators!
They look nice and it excite to have taken photos with the "Gladiators", esprecially in front of the "Colosseo" and the "Fontana di Trevi". But be careful" Behind these gladiators there are sharks and it easily costs 10,00 EURO - 5,00 EURO for every person! Certainly, you get nice photos but you are not informed about the costs before. I don't think that it is worth this price.
