Waterfalls, Gorges and Glaciers

We headed further along the south coast today to stay in a place called Klaustur. Along the way we stopped at a good number of sites. After driving through some little towns and a floodplain we reached Seljalandsfoss waterfall. You can walk behind it (though you get quite wet!), and there are a couple of other waterfalls if you go for a short walk along towards the campsite near it. We scrambled up a mud hill to get to see one of them (My walking boots were in storage, so I was in my trainers with Al holding my hand so I didn't get too scared of falling down the hill...), worth it to get up to see it though.
We then carried on in the car to another waterfall - Skogafoss, which is 60m tall. We walked up the hill/mountain thing that lead to the top, and then walked as far as we could along the top as the views were good running all the way along the river that lead to the falls. We were however stopped by a very muddy bog, which try as I might, my trainers wouldn't let me cross without causing some very soggy
feet and socks.
Next we headed down a dirt track to see the glacier tongue of Solheimajokull glacier. It looks funny in a way because of the lava formations around it, there is quite a lot of black/lava coloured ice. It also looked a bit surreal, and one of our photos looks like Al and I have been cut out and pasted onto a computer image from another planet! Wonderful to see though and be able to be so close to it.
We also headed right to the coast to a small area called Dyrholaey, where there is protected environment for the puffins. Saw lots more puffins!
Our last stop before the hotel was the gorge (Fjaoragljufur), which was stunning, though it was trying to rain on us at the time. We decided to climb up that too (notice a theme here at all?!) and walk along again until the waterfilled bog stopped us - we nearly made it the 2km to the other end of the gorge, but not quite. Again stunning views and lots of little waterfalls within the gorge.
