I arrive in Bangkok and the first thing I do is book my ticket out of the place the next morning. I forgot what transport was like in Thailand. The buses rarely leave on time and true to form it took us an hour and a half to get on the road. Apparantly the journey only takes 6 hours but thats a load of bollox. Mainly due to the bus driver only doing about 30km/h for the majority of the trip which really pisses me off. 6 1/2 hours after getting out of Smog city - not Middlesborough - we finally arrive at the ferry port for another hour wait. The ferry is slower than the bus driver and its an hour before landing on Ko Chang.

I get to the place where Jay said he and Jo would be but no sign. Although it turns out they are only one resort up the beach. He tells me his tales and woes from spending Christmas in Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok having his appendix removed. Phil's dangerman title has definitely gone now. Long Live King Dangerman Dive Master Jay!! The old routine from Langkawi has been kicking in minus the copious
number of games of shithead.

We manage to catch some Muay Thai boxing at the local bar - they've actually built a ring for it, it wasn't a pub brawl. The first guy lasts about 15 seconds after being kicked in the nuts. I think his warm up was 30 minutes waiting for the other guy to turn up. Its a far way away from Lumphini in Bangkok!!

Jay and Jo move down to Siam Huts and have an early night. I'm expecting to see Jay lying in the hammock for breakfast in the morning but the hut is locked from the outside and a pair of heavily charred shorts lying at the door!! Thoughts turn to whats happened. It turns out that while climbing into bed, Jay threw his shorts on top of a mozzie coil and passed out. Woken at around 1am with smoke filling the beach bungalow, he puts out the fire, wakes Jo and gets outside. Jo's pretty shaken and the fumes have sent her into shock, so its back to the hospital for them both - this time roles reversed, Jo being looked after and Jay on the crappy bed beside.

The rest of my day is taken up by lying in the hammock reading, sleeping and eating!! If my blood pressure dropped any more I'd be dead!! Now for me I'm heading back into Laos for another cvouple of weeks - the end is nearing!!
