I was so happy to be getting out of Penang. 6 days was far too long. On the bus to the boat is a S.African girl - Sjanie, Scottish/Oz guy - Iain, an Irish guy and his English Girlfriend - James and Jade. On the boat there's no seats until they open the VIP lounge, with a movie showing. At 8.30am its a bit hard taking the movie seriously when the body count easily reaches over 500 and the hero comes back from the dead every 5 minutes, so its back to sleep for me. We can see the water getting visibly clearer as we close in on Langkawi, which is a relief cos I bought a mask and snorkel before Penang thinking it would come in useful.
Happy/Unhappy New Year to me!!

again and starts to tell us her life story - all 11 years of it!! You would have thought she was 30. She has opions on land ownership in Langkawi, calls her old friends shallow for asking her to play with dolls (like most 9-11 year old girls would) and generally runs about the place as if she owns it. Its a little sad really cos she obviuosly hasn't had too much of a childhood and seems to be losing friends cos she's grown up too quickly. She even slags off somegirl that walks by cos she fancies her 20 year old bloke. Far to surreal for 11.30 in the morning.
NYE!! Ye ha!! Back into the old routine until early evening when we purchase a lifetime supply of alcohol from the duty free all for a measily 15 quid. As you can see from the pics below I had the majority of the Kentucky "Gunslinger" Gentleman and proceeded to pass out on the beach around 3. Although Sjanie did wake me up for a swim which sorted me right out - I thought. We say our good byes for the night and make our way back to the bungalow where apparantly according to Jude I was chasing frogs. With phone, camera and remaining alcohol all safely brought home Sjanie and Iain sang me some songs to put me to sleep - think they managed one line of the first song before I was snoring.
Next morning all the alcohol has gone from outside!! Wait a minue....my shirt was in the bag with it, along with my camera and Sjanie's glasses. They stole the last of my Gunslinger!! I'm too pissed still to hire a motorbike to report it so tomorrow will have to suffice - Happy New Year to me!! That was my favourite shirt too!! Rest of 1st Jan 2007 is cancelled.
The last few days in Langkawi is spent fabricating the truth as to what was stolen and when (who likes general insurers anyway!!) and visiting Seven Wells waterfalls. They are natural slides into seven different pools but realisitally only one was easy to do without busting yourself. The views were spectacular from half way up a mountain sitting in your own private, natural, open air jacuzzi!! Lush!! We also took a trrip around some islands where we thought it would be deserted. It would have been if it wasn't for the other 25 tourist boats.
Well 10 days of being a beach bum has taken its toll, so I'm now off to Ko Chang island off the Gulf of Thailand for a week to rest up!!
