We manage to get from Singapore to Bali in a day which is great. We are literally on boats, planes, taxi's all day, no trains involved. Kuta in Bali is the Magaluf for Australians but its a great introduction to Oz for me. We just rest our bones for a couple of days, laze on the beach, watch the sunset and drink lots of Bintang beer - winner. We were gonna surf but hangovers were huge as were the rip currents. We find a few girls who aren't Ozzie, irish infact so me and Ben end up having a quiet night with them - 5am i think!? We get our ticket sorted to go to the Gili islands paying a little extra to avoid Bangsal - small port town on Lombok. Lonely Planet has a dedicated section - Avoiding the Bangsal Mafia. We get to the Gili's after 8-9 hours on buses & boats and a 6am start.

We get to the Gili's after 8-9 hours on buses & boats and a 6am start. The last boat ride is a little hairy. There's 5 of us in a small boat with 10 foot waves crashing us about, all the while the driver is shouting "Ye ha, no money no honey, no money no smoke." So we're all
thinking give him some money to get a woman or some weed. It might slow him down a bit!! We just make it in one piece, absolutely soaked!! When we land we're greeted by the taxi drivers - well horse and carts - the only transoprt on the island. Trawangan is the smallest island in the world to have an irish bar, the most irish thing about the place was me and Jay inside it!!
We manage to spend a week just relaxing, watching DVD's in the private booths, a few beers here and there. Everywhere we walk people are shouting at us "Mushrooms man, you need weed!" Ben tells us this happens because the police only come one a year to the island to meet with the island chief. If you have any problems or are a victim of crime you must see him. The last recorded crime on the island was 3 years ago and it was solved sharpish with the offender more than likely kicked off the island. No-one wants to leave so the locals (all approx 300) are nice as pie to the tourists!! There are more cats on the island than people!! The sunsets
are amazing there. You can see in the picture the rays bounching off the volcano in the distance.
Me and Jay manage to get a dive in once his ears cleared up and we organise our boat trip to see the Komodo Dragons. Unfortunately we lose Ben at this point, he's done Komodo before and its a tad over budget for him to do it again! Cheers Ben for showing us your pics of Indonesia, if ya hadn't I'd be in Oz probably having to get a job by now!!
