We drag our selves away from Vang Vieng only cos we want to get our Cambodia visas and away before the weekend is out. Vientiane doesn't have a city feel but more of a big town. Again we keep meeting people we've met along the way. We meet Sarah and Alexia who've done a whistle stop tour of Laos in a week. Wasn't happy the first time we met Sarah cos she pinched my lighter. So offering me a ciggy at a bar out comes the lighter!! I knew she had it. Hope your reading this Sarah!!

Again everything here closes at 12 including our guest house so there isn't much options for partying. Its too hot to do any real form of sight seeing so we pay $5 to use a hotel pool. Well worth it!! We meet up with a good group of people to have dinner on the Mekong and watch as a big ass lightning storm comes our way and the waiters are running frantically to get everything cleared away before the heavens open. Luckily we make it to a roof top bar before we're drenched - run by a 23 year old Canadian dude. Live
Most famous temple in Laos the dream mate, die in debt!!
I get a scooter for the day, so me and Sarah do the same "walking tour" Phil and Emmet have set out on. The lads aren't up for the scooter. We visit some more temples (names have no importance now), and the victory gate. Its a mock up of the Arc de Triumphe in Paris. The Laos government was given a shed load of money by the French to update the roads but they used it to build that monstrosity. Even the Laos people thing its crap!!
Later on I find Blair running the streets looking for somewhere thats playing the rugby. He spent and extra couple of days in Vang Vieng getting trollied and has left Paddy behind cos he can't get his ass out of bed for the bus. Me and Phil head off on the bike to find the Beer Lao factory to sample some delights - yes I know drinking and driving isn't a good idea jude - but the factory is closed anyway!! That night I decide "To hell with the curfew, I'm out to sample some club life." The only reasonble (probably straight) club is on the 3rd level of a hotel looking over the Mekong so me and Blair get wrecked, and meet up with a few from Dublin (who turns out to know Laura and the girls). So to avoid sleeping on the strret with the rest of the bums, me and Blair go back to theirs for a drink and a yarn until 6 or so. Thank god the guest house is open when I return.
Emmet, Phil and Robert head off to Buddha park in the morning but there's no way any form of buddhism could get me out of bed. Paddy arrives so we just mess about for the day and plan our escape to Tha Kaek tomorrow! More to come shortly!
