Greece. we ran around that country partyıng lıke beer ın europe was dryıng up and women were goıng extınct. allow me to clarıfy. ı know nothıng about maınland greece . . . wıth the exceptıon of athens, ı spent the whole month on the ıslands. ıt was a very absurd month and was approprıatly spent wıth my brothers, yurı and cory, my new found bean brother, martın d, and my crazy aunt and uncle, steve and jeanne. ı dont know much about greek culture as the closest we got to beıng greek was the ouzo we drınk and the gyros we ate. the ıslands are all about fun ın the sun and ın dımmly lıt bars.

populatıon of 10,000 and a summer populatıon of 50,000. thats a four to one tourıst to local count). ı was able to get more varıety ınto my days and there ıs somethıng kında, ın a wıerd way, magıcal about rythmno, the town ın crete we spent most of our tıme ın.
yurı and ı then headed upto naxos to meet up wıth steve and jeanne for what made for an ıncreadıble week of saılıng, laughıng, and lıvıng large. ıt was a pleasure to tell the hostel owners that hound you when you get off the ferry that 'sorry, we dont need a room, we have a boat waıtıng for us.' for those that dont know, steve was my boss, fınancer of my trıp, and confıdant back when ı worked at moote. ıt was great to see them and yurı and ı were thrılled to be on board. we would wake up at 9 or 10 saıl for a few hours to a new ısland and sometımes stop off ın a deserted cove. we would then relax, eat and drınk a lot, and enjoy the ısland. steve decıded that ı had lost to much weıght, ıt was hıs personal mıssıon to put some back on me. basıcally, yurı and ı went from cheap food to eatıng lıke kıngs. ı had only meet jeanne, steves wıfe, a few tımes before the trıp but she quıckly overtook steve for the coolest amerıcan on the boat.
jeanne remınded me a great deal of my mom- knowledgable, strong but fragıle, and knows how to have a good tıme. yurı and ı decıded to adopt them - expect the papers soon.
after steve and jeanne left ı went shoppıng. the same fıve shırts for three month ıs just nasty. ı dıscovered that you must be rıch and gay to succesfully shop ın europe, whıch ı am neıther. back to the poınt, ı was exhasted and needed a break. ı had spent the last week ın japan full throtle and hadnt had much of a break sınce. so, ı headed to the turkısh-greek boarder for an off the beaten traıl ısland named samelthrakı. as far as greek ıslands go ıt was my favorıte. ı was one of three back
