Odyssei
Harin
This city was mentioned in the book of Genesis and is argued as the oldest city in the world. They make their houses like this as refuge from the heat. the day I was there it reached 130 degrees F.

This is inside the house from the previous picture. The kids were great and let me try on some traditional clothes.

Madrin
A very beautiful city flowing down a hill overlooking the Syrian plane.

I made some Turkish friends and we went to one of thier uncle's shops for tea and food. We passed this mosque on the way.

A praying man at a cemetary overlooking a scorched valley.

Relaxing and waiting out the heat on the Tigris with two locals and the Polish couple, Dawid and Magda.

Some friends Í made and danced with at the Kurdish music festival. The peace sign stands for Kurdish sovereignty . . . apparently, its not wise to do that in Turkey.

Hasankeyf
At the festival they had a tea guy instead of the beer guy. I literally couldnt find alcohol anywhere for about 10 days. It was a very strict Islamic area. Thats Dawid by the way.

Hitchhiking
Letting the trucks and our Iranian drivers take a break from the desert heat.

Van
Dancing with some random locals that picked us up and bought us beer. They were crazy.

The dancing continues in the car with Dawid and Magda.
Odyssei
Dogubeyazit
Dogubeyazit is a city thats about 15km from the Iranian border. This pic is of a very old Persian palace. The feeling in this part of the country was very exotic.
Odyssei
Dogubeyazit
Looking back over the palace as it looms over the desert. Right out of the picture is Mt. Ararat ... where Noah's Arc is supposedly ended up.
