story. I didn't know what I was looking for. I pulled out the book. I read it, and re-read it, over and over again. It kept saying white marble on grey stones. I didn't get it. I was sitting against a fountain, and I looked over towards the obelisk, and I noticed a white paving stone. Once there, I looked down and it read, Sud Ponente. A white elliptical block. There were more. I followed them until I reached the one I had come to see, Bernini's West Ponente. Finally, the trail had come up with the goods. 1/3
We walked back over the river until we came to the next stop
Piazza Navarone
Some say that the Romans use to race horses around the Piazza. We will never know. But here in the centre is another Egyptian obelisk and surrounding it is a Bernini statue. I have admired it on numerous occasions in the past, but this time it was different. It was covered in scaffold !!! Luckily, I took photos of this last year. 2/4
Pantheon
This grand old majestic Roman building has been a church, administrative building and a memorial. I have always loved coming here. Raphael's tomb is here. Last year, there was scaffold inside. It has now been removed, but you cannnot get over to Raphaels tomb still, because they have blocked off half still. Fuck knows why, but such is life. 3/5
Being tourists, we walked over to the Trevi fountain, took the photos, threw in some coins and fucked around, getting in the way of other people's photos. Nice aren't we !!! It was getting later, so we decided to head on back to the second stop.
Santa Maria del Popolo
The church was now open, so we went in. We looked around and could not find the Chigi Chapel. Realising I was a fucking idiot, I had another look around the Piazza.
