The Story of the Trip

Over the past year, we set off on a trip, which was meant to take at least two years. As previously mentioned, we only stopped because I was offered a new job, but I do have some great memories from the last year
We set out on the 25th of June, massively overweight, especially Lucy, and we started off in Italy. It was good to go back in Venice, as I didn't enjoy it the first time first time, as I didn't enjoy it the first time. A few days later, we were in Rome, where we re-traced our steps from 1998, but we did make a mistake by not reading Angels and Demons, as it is a good tour guide, just like the Paris, trip we did for the Da Vinci Code.
We breezed through Croatia, and were very impressed with Dubrovnik. In fact, running into a guy called Mat, who I travelled through Laos with in 2000, was great, because you never know who you will run into. We should have spent more time in Montenegro, but we had to move on. Into Bosnia, which I found very disturbing, and onto Hungary, where the prices had risen dramatically. We flew quickly up to Sweden, for Tadek and Karen's wedding, and then back to Hungary, where we went straight to Romania. The painted Monasteries were awesome, and we kept on moving. The Presidential Palace was amazing Presidential Palace was amazing, and then we had a long trip into Bulgaria. I loved Veliko Taranovo, and Sofia was nice, but after the Bukovina Monasteries, Rila, was always going to be hard to live up to.
Next was Macedonia. I didn't like Skopje, and people have bagged both Lucy and me for this, but this is our personal opinion. However, Lake Ohrid was great, and we realised even more once we entered Albania. The mushroom shaped bunkers were hilarious mushroom shaped bunkers were hilarious , but the border crossing into Greece was not amusing.
