The Story of the Trip

to Jason Gillespie get his double century in Chittagong. The ship breaking yards were amazing, while the resorts, which were empty, in Coxes Bazaar, were amusing to see. We did also see one tourist in Bangladesh, and it was great to finish Bangers , with a free piss up, laid on by Dougy, the Aussie High Commissioner !!!
AS time was running out, we flew to Bangkok, where we ran into my mate Paul, and his girlfriend, Julie, who tested out my liver for me, so we got pissed together. My mate Dave, from Buddha View dive shop, then made sure it was good, before we headed to Phuket, where we saw my childhood friend, Michael, who now has a share in a bar, which is not a girly bar !!! We had a day diving with him, before we went back to the Kok, and then overland into Cambodia. As Lucy had never been to Angkor before, I went back, and had a great time. Phnom Penh, has changed loads, and to see the Killing Fields and S21 Torture museum again was very sad. We moved on to Kampot, where I had visited briefly last time, and we were here as Lucy wanted to go to Bokor Hill Station. The bike trip was good, except the kidney punches from Lucy !!! Back to Phnom Penh, and then up towards the border of Laos. We met a great couple, who came with us. George and Colin, and no matter how hard we tried, they came everywhere with us !!! Once over the border, we stopped of at a place that once was the dogs of Laos, Don Det, but it has gone downhill since I was last here. We ended up with a crew of five, as we now had a German, Welf attached to us !!! We all went up to Vientiane, where Welf introduced us to Hash !!! Vientiane, still a nice place but with a little bit more traffic. Then there was Vang Vieng. Another place that has grown up. The tubing is now better, with the bars and swings that are now there, and the kayaking was good, but Lucy didn't enjoy being tipped over !!! The Plain of Jars were awesome. We were slightly worried that that they would be like the Nemrut Dagi heads, but as soon as we saw them, our concerns were gone. We also said goodbye to Welf, so we had one last piss up with him. As usual, we ran into Colin and George in Luang Prabang. This place is so how I remember it. Loads of Wats and full of French Tourists !!! And as time was running out, we flew back to Bangkok and arranged our tickets out of there. Whilst in Bangkok, the King was celebrating his 60th anniversary of being in charge. All the locals were decked out in yellow and it was amazing to see how these people love their King, compared to the Brits who have a Queen, but do not feel the same way as them. We did also manage to fit in one last piss up with Dave, and then we were gone.
It was a great year, but it would have been better if it had been two/three. Lucy isn't happy, but she at least is going to go back to Viet Nam. So, you can always follow her adventures at (link). But we stopped because of the job. Money was not a worry, but it does look good on my CV, hence the stopping of travel, and the starting of work. And there is no need to worry, as this journey will be continuing in the very near future
