Awoke after sleeping in. As it was only going to be a short walk today, and after yesterdays effort, sleeping into 07:00 was great. We went and had breakfast with AJ and Robin and said goodbye to Douggie and Julie. As they thought Marco's porter was a knob, they said that they would not stop in Kagbeni. I tried to convince them otherwise, because Marco is a good bloke, but they could not be swayed. They walked out, we finished up, and with the Canucks, we walked back into town to look at the huge temple complex that we all had walked past last night. It was uphill though, and I could feel it in my knees. It was quite impressive, mainly Buddhist, but with one Hindu temple. We finished up, and walked out. It was just after 12:00, and as the walk was all down hill, we knew it was going to be fine. The scenery on this side of the Himalayas, was so different, but the villages were much better looking. It didn't take long before we could see all the old ancient villages down below. There was an abandoned settlement with caves above them. They are meant to be around 2700 years old. They also say that the caves go up to nine stories in height. Next up, was a turn off for Kagbeni. We passed some bushes that had red, white and yellow ribbons over them. They say that the pilgrims going to Muktinath lay them here, as this is their first site of Muktinath. Fuck me, they must have good eye sight !!! We walked down some dodgy single track and into Kagbeni. Found a hotel, Yak Donalds !!! And had a walk around after a feed. We ran into Ryan and Megan the Americans, it was good to see some common faces. The village is built inside an old castle. Very impressive. We went back to our hotel and had our third hot shower of the trek. Amazingly, we did not smell !!! We went back and died for the night. Even though the walk had been short, after the previous days walk down the mountain, my knees were feeling the strain
